Special sports dispatch from Beijing,June 12, Xinhua News Agency - Zhang Gaoli, Standing Member of the PoliticalBureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, metwith IOC President Thomas Bach at Ziguangge in Zhongnanhai on the 12thof June.

Zhang Gaoli thanked President Bach andthe IOC for their strong support to Beijing and Zhangjiakou’s successful bid tohost the 2022 Olympic Winter Games. He said that President Bach’s visit andattendance of the Beijing Olympic Tower naming ceremony and the Olympic Rings unveilingceremony is bound to better promote the development of the Olympic Movement inChina. The Chinese government places a high level of importance to the preparationsfor Beijing 2022 and President Xi Jinping has given important instructions onmany occasions. We are in the process of solidly and effectively rolling outthe preparation tasks per the requirements of the IOC. We shall stick to thephilosophies of “hosting green, shared, open and honest Games” to deliver a fantastic,extraordinary and excellent edition of the Olympic Winter Games.

Bach commented on Chinese government’songoing effort to promote the advancement of the Olympic Movement. The Beijing OrganisingCommittee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games focuses onsustainable development and utilisation of Olympic heritage, which fullyreflects the spirit of the Olympic Agenda2020. He expressed his firm belief in Beijing to host a highly successful editionof the Olympic Winter Games in 2022.
