Films in two decades embrace dual-Olympic dreams. On 24 July, the preliminary review of works collected for the 20th Beijing International Sports Film Week (BISFW) was conducted at the Beijing Olympic Museum. The panellists included Shi Xuping, Shan Wanli, He Xinghui, Chen Liang and Sun Jishun.

The 20th BISFW is co-hosted by the Organising Committee of the Beijing International Film Festival, the Chinese Olympic Committee and the Beijing Olympic City Development Association (BODA) and co-organised by the Press Commission of the Chinese Olympic Committee and the Beijing Olympic City Development Centre. It is a flagship Olympic themed event launched in 2005. This year’s BISFW collected a total of 275 entries, including 15 in “The Olympic Games and the Olympic Spirit” category, 67 in the “Movies” category, 21 in the “Sport and Society/Sport and the Paralympic Movement” category, 12 in the “Feature Films” category, and 103 in the “Shorts” category , 35 in the “TV and New Media” category, 3 in the “Winter Sports” category and 19 in the “Student Works” category. After strict review by the panellists, 47 outstanding works that show the charm of sports and tell inspiring stories were shortlisted for the final review.
According to the hosts, the 20th BISFW aims to discover moments in sports that touch the heart and reflect universal human values. Through the power of sports films, it seeks to promote the Olympic spirit, tell more excellent Chinese sports stories to the international community and contribute to building China into a country strong in sports. The shortlisted works will be presented to the public at the Shortlists Announcement Ceremony of the 20th BISFW on 23 August. Some of them will be submitted to the 42nd Milano International FICTS Fest - World Championship Final scheduled for November in Milan, Italy.

1. Shi Xuping
Senior editor of China Central Television; senior director and producer of featured sport programmes World Sports News and Sports.
2. Shan Wanli
Research fellow at China Film Art Research Centre; editor-in-chief of the books Documentation and Fictionalisation, Documentary Analysis, History of Chinese Documentaries, etc.
3. He Xinghui
Professor at the School of Journalism and Communication School of Journalism and Communication, Beijing Sport University; Deputy Secretary-General of the Sports Film and Television Committee of Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art.
4. Chen Liang
Associate professor at Beijing Film Academy, Deputy Director of Youth Film Studio and Director of the Teaching Practice Department of Beijing Film Academy.
5.Sun Jishun
Producer, publisher and President of Change Film. He has invested in and produced a number of films, plays and TV series, including The Great Father, The Stray Cat King of the Stadium, The Stray Cat King of the Ski Resort and The Unrestrained Detective.
